      <p class="para_topic">After you have finished selection and placement of standard parts and other components, you can use the Create Pockets function to cut the associated or non-associated pockets.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The concept for creating pockets is that the false body of a standard part is linked to the target body part and is subtracted from the target body.</p>

      <div class="title_division">When to Create Pockets</div>
      <p class="para_division">To minimize the number of features while designing, create pockets at the last stage of mold design:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">After you cut pockets, the number of features in the assembly dramatically increases, which can affect system performance.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Some updates may fail if the insert groups/standard parts are outside of the target body.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Performance</div>
      <p class="para_division">To increase pocketing performance, toggle on Break Association.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Pocket Management Dialog</div>
      <div class="title_division">Part/Solid</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Part/Solid radio button lets you determine whether to subtract the solid body in the false reference set (Part), or the selected solid body itself.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Reference Set</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Reference Set radio button lets you change the reference set of the selected tool objects.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Break Association</div>
      <p class="para_division">When the Break Association option is toggled on, the association between the standard part and the pocket is removed after cutting the pocket.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Show Target and Tool Bodies Only</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Show Target and Tool Bodies Only option displays only the target and tool objects, which aids in viewing the cut pocket.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Pocket Status Checking</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Pocket Status Checking option lets you find insert groups/standard parts, which have not yet created a pocket.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Remove Pocket</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Remove Pocket button lets you remove pockets from selected tool objects.</p>

      <p class="para_division">Perform the following steps to create a pocket:</p>

      <div class="title_division">Symbols For Threaded Holes</div>
      <p class="para_division">You can set pocket cutting to automatically create symbols for threaded holes. Set the following option in <b class="uiTerm">Mold Wizard Customer Defaults</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">MW_Pocket_ThreadMethod</p>
      <p class="para_division">The following options are available:</p>
      <p class="para_division">0 - Do not create thread symbol</p>
      <p class="para_division">1 - Create simplified thread symbol</p>
      <p class="para_division">2 - Create offset face as thread symbol</p>

      <div class="title_division">Pocket Cutting With Tool Identification and View Isolation</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">

            <p class="para_item">Select the Target Bodies Design Step and select a target body, such as a moldbase plate.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the Find Intersecting Components Design Step. The intersecting components are highlighted.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Check the Show Target and Tool Bodies Only option to hide all other components.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Use Shift+MB1 to deselect components that aren't going to have pockets.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click Apply to perform the pocket creation operation.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <div class="title_division">Cutting a Symbolic Thread Pocket</div>
      <p class="para_division">Cutting a symbolic thread pocket can be accelerated with the aid of design automation for pocketing of standard components. Mold Wizard allows you to assign attributes to faces based on component diameter. The attributes are then automatically recognized by downstream applications, for example, for automatic creation of a threaded hole symbol. However, when you are cutting a symbolic thread pocket, there are some key information files to set up first. </p>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Screw Model and Data Files</b></p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> In the <b class="uiTerm">screw model</b> file, there is a <code>FALSE </code>body and the face attribute is set to <code>MW_HOLE_THREAD=1</code>. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the <b class="uiTerm">screw data</b> file, there are three corresponding dimensions: <code>SCREW_DIA / THREAD_PITCH / TAP_DRILL_DIA</code>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Var.prt &amp; pdw_var.xls Files</b> 
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">There are no features in the <b class="uiTerm">var.prt </b>file; there are, however, standard expressions, such as <code>SCREW_CLEARANCE_DIA, SCREW_C_BORE_DIA and SCREW_TAP_DRILL_DIA</code> in the file. These standard screw expressions can be found in a mechanical engineering handbooks
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">There are additional parameters in the <b class="uiTerm">var.prt </b> file; for example, when design parameters are changed in the die design setting, they are saved in <b class="uiTerm">var.prt</b>. The parameters can be used later in the design process.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">Expressions in the <b class="uiTerm">var.prt</b> file are exported to the spreadsheet, <code>mw_var.xls</code> or <code>pdw_var.xls</code>. Variables in <code>mw_var.xls</code> or <code>pdw_var.xls</code> will be used if <b class="uiTerm">var.prt</b> is not loaded.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Pocket Cutting</div>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm"> Thread Template Excel File</b></p>
            <p class="para_item">The thread template file, <code>thread_standard_dat.xls</code>, contains.
            </p>
            <ul>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item"> The dimension to cut the symbolic thread pocket  <code>MAJOR_DIA / PITCH / TAP_DRILL_DIA </code> that are in the <code>thread_standard_dat.xls</code> file.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">The standards of measurement: metric and unified.</p>
               </li>
            </ul>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Cut pocket and create symbolic thread features based on the above settings</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division"> The following section describes in detail how to create standard parts and cut pockets.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Setting Up for the Symbolic Thread Pocket Process</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> Check the screw model to see if the face attribute: <code>MW_HOLE_THREAD=</code>1 is present.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Check the screw expression to confirm that it contains the three key dimensions.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the screw expression, match the three dimensions with the thread template: <code>thread_standard_dat.xls</code>.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item"> If the dimension values do not exactly match the thread template, they are automatically corrected in the<code> thread_standard_dat.xls</code> file, where <code>MAJOR_DIA </code>is a key word.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Create symbolic thread features in the target body.  </p>
         </li>
      </ol>

      <div class="title_division">Standard Part Model for Symbolic Threads</div>
      <p class="para_division">Creating a symbolic thread consists of two activities:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Defining a Standard Part: Create a thread false body with the attribute: <code>MW_HOLE_THREAD</code>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Cutting the pocket: The Pocket program will locate the face with the <code>MW_HOLE_THREAD</code> attribute, and apply the information from the thread_stand_dat.xls file to create the symbolic thread.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">Create the standard part, do the following:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Create a feature with a cylindrical face.</p>
            <p class="para_item">The feature will be used to generate the tap drill hole for thread cutting.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Assign the attribute: <code>MW_HOLE_THREAD=1</code> to the cylindrical face.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Create expressions for the thread diameter, thread pitch, the diameter of the tap drill, and other expressions as necessary. For example:</p>

      <div class="title_division">Standard Part Database for Symbolic Thread</div>
      <p class="para_division">In the standard part database, there are two parameters, which are used as search conditions for thread data in the thread template database. These are:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><code>SCREW_DIA </code></p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><code>THREAD_PITCH</code>. 
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">These parameters correspond to the expressions in the model for example: </p>
      <p class="para_division"><code>TAP_DRILL_DIA</code> corresponds to the expression in the model. The parameter value. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><code>SCREW_TAP_DRILL_DIA_xxx</code>, means the value can be evaluated from the expression. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><code>SCREW_TAP_DRILL_DIA_xxx</code> in VAR part.  If no VAR part is loaded in the NX session, the value of <code>SCREW_TAP_DRILL_DIA_xxx </code>is read from <code>mw_var.xls</code> (Windows platform) or <code>mw_var.xs4 </code>(UNIX platform)
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Thread Template Database</div>
      <p class="para_division">The thread template database in the<code> thread_standard_dat.xls</code> file (<b class="uiTerm">Windows</b> platform) or <code>thread_standard_dat.xs4 </code>(<b class="uiTerm">UNIX</b> platform), is located in <b class="uiTerm">Templates</b> folder in the database installation directory. 
      </p>
