      <p class="para_division">Using <b class="uiTerm">Insert</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Welding</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Arc Spot</b>, you can insert arc spot welds and define validation criteria for them.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">An Arc Spot is sometimes referred to as a plunge weld. You can choose from two types of spot weld creation methods: <b class="uiTerm">Multiple</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Single</b>. In the <b class="uiTerm">Multiple</b> method, spot points are attached to the reference curves that can be specified by choosing a <b class="uiTerm">Location</b> option. In the <b class="uiTerm">Single</b> method, spot points are attached to the UV value of the reference sheet. All spot points created using the <b class="uiTerm">Single</b> method are grouped in a single feature.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">You can place the spot welds on reference curves if the selected creation method is <b class="uiTerm">Multiple</b>. To define the reference curve, any one of the following method can be used: <b class="uiTerm">Along Guide Curve</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Offset from Guide Edge</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Along Center Line</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">Using the <b class="uiTerm">Arc Spot</b> dialog box, you can create associative and  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/ref_non_assoc.html');return(false);">nonassociative</a> arc spot welds. Associative welds are linked to connecting parts, and update when the connecting parts are modified. Nonassociative welds are de-linked from the joining parts and do not update when the connecting parts are modified. Nonassociative frozen welds are light weight, and store minimal feature information required to display, annotate and query weld objects.
      </p>

      <p class="para_division">To access the <b class="uiTerm">Arc Spot</b> dialog box in the insert mode:

               <p class="para_td">Choose the spot weld creation method. <b class="uiTerm">Single</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Multiple</b> methods are available for both associative and nonassociative spot welds.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Multiple</b>: Lets you place multiple arc spots at a specified location according to the <b class="uiTerm">Spacing</b> value or <b class="uiTerm">Number of Welds</b>. In the <b class="uiTerm">Multiple</b> method, associative spot points are attached to the reference curves that can be specified by choosing a <b class="uiTerm">Location</b> option.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Single</b>: Allows you to specify a location (for the arc spot) within the overlap area (which is highlighted in the graphics window) using the <b class="uiTerm">Point Constructor</b> dialog box. When you choose the <b class="uiTerm">Single</b> method, all options except <b class="uiTerm">Class</b>,<b class="uiTerm"> Associative Output</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Freeze Location</b> appear grayed out. You can create as many arc spots as desired at the specified locations. In the <b class="uiTerm">Single</b> method, associative spot points are attached to the UV value of reference sheet. All spot points created using the <b class="uiTerm">Single</b> method are grouped into a single feature.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Multiple</b> option is selected by default.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">The method option used at the time of creation is retained and available for modification in the edit mode.</p>

For arc spot welds, you can select a minimum of two and maximum of four face sets, with each face set comprising at least one face.

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Along Guide Curve</b>: Lets you select a guide curve on which to place the spot points. The <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> buttons are not available when this option is selected. This option allows you to select curves that are in the part file (either piece part or assembly). In case more than one guide curve needs to be selected, select all the curves. The guide curve you select is projected onto the reference sheet, thus creating reference curves.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Offset from Guide Edge</b>: Lets you select reference edge(s) from the reference sheet, and specify offset distance from this edge. The <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> buttons are not available when this option is selected. In case you need to select two or more reference edges, select the start edge and end edge from the reference sheet.

               <p class="para_td">When you choose <b class="uiTerm">Place on Center Line</b>, the reference curves are obtained by projecting the center spline (that was created by using a set of input edges) on to the reference sheet. This option lets you select two sets of edges from the reference sheet that are highlighted in the graphics window. Each set contains a start and end edge for that set (Some sets may have only one edge). All the intermediate edges are automatically selected. The spot weld is created in the reference sheet area, between the two sets of selected reference edges.
               </p>

            <p class="para_item">In the Modeling application, click <b class="uiTerm">Insert</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Welding</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Arc Spot</b>, or click the <b class="uiTerm">Arc Spot</b> button <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_arc_spot.gif" border="0"> on the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Assistant</b> toolbar. The <b class="uiTerm">Arc Spot</b> dialog box appears and you are cued to select faces for the first set.
            </p>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item">On the <b class="uiTerm">Arc Spot</b> dialog box, select the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/arc_spot.html#arc_arc_spot_aspt_dlg_meth');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Method</b></a>.

Turn the toggle OFF to create a nonassociative spot weld.
            </p>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item">If required, freeze the spot weld location by turning <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/arc_spot.html#arc_arc_spot_aspt_dlg_fr');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Freeze Location</b></a> ON. This toggle is turned OFF by default. Since the input faces will be not available once a nonassociative weld is frozen, turn the <b class="uiTerm">Freeze Weld Location</b> toggle ON as the last step after finalizing all the spot locations.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the face selection icon <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_fsel.gif" border="0"> and select faces for the first set. You must select a minimum of two sets of faces, each set comprising at least one face. Click the <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_down.gif" border="0">&nbsp;button or <b class="uiTerm">Select Face</b> button to select the next face set. You can select a maximum of four sets of faces.             </p>

            <p class="para_item">Choose the <b class="uiTerm">Reference Sheet</b> icon <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_refsht.gif" border="0">, to create a reference sheet by selecting the top face in the graphics window. You can can place the spot weld on the reference sheet using any of the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/arc_spot.html#arc_arc_spot_aspt_dlg_loc');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Location</b></a> options. In case several overlap bodies are created, the <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_prev.gif" border="0"> / <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_next.gif" border="0"> Reference Sheet buttons are made available for you to traverse through overlap bodies. In case of a single overlap body, these buttons appear insensitive.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If you have chosen the <b class="uiTerm">Single</b> method, choosing the <b class="uiTerm">Reference Sheet</b> icon creates a reference sheet and automatically opens the <b class="uiTerm">Point Constructor</b> dialog box, which you can use to define the location of the spot weld. Specify the spot weld location and skip to  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/arc_spot.html#arc_arc_spot_step_twelve');return(false);">step 12</a>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select reference edges/curves if you are creating an associative spot weld using the <b class="uiTerm">Multiple</b> method. The label automatically updates to <b class="uiTerm">Select Curves</b> if you have selected the <b class="uiTerm">Along Guide Curve</b> location option. For the other two location options, the option label remains <b class="uiTerm">Select Edges</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/arc_spot.html#arc_arc_spot_aspt_dlg_loc');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Location</b></a>. (The <b class="uiTerm">Along Guide Curve</b> location option is selected by default.) If you have selected the <b class="uiTerm">Single</b> method in step 1, the <b class="uiTerm">Location</b> options are unavailable.
            </p>
