      <p class="para_topic">Use Pocket Design to cut associated or non-associated pockets after you select and place standard parts and other components.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Use the Pocket Design button to display the Pocket Management dialog box. </p>

      <div class="title_division">Pocket Clearance</div>
      <p class="para_division">Pocket clearance depends on the insert group/standard part's false body. </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You can change the clearance when you add or edit an insert group/standard part. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You can use clearance management to assign or edit the clearance of an insert group/standard part. After cutting the pocket, the system creates offset features to reflect the clearance.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">When you reposition or resize an insert group/standard part, the pocket moves or changes along with the standard part if you uncheck the toggle button --- Break Association.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Pocket Design Timing</div>
      <p class="para_division">The false body of a standard part is linked to the target body part and is subtracted from the target body. Use Pocket Design at the last stage of die design because:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">After you cut pockets, the number of features in the assembly components dramatically increases, and this can slow system performance unnecessarily. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The die base update may sometimes fail if the insert groups/standard parts are outside the target body.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">To increase pocketing performance,&nbsp;you can check the Break Association toggle button.&nbsp;</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Pocket Management Dialog</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Pocket Management dialog includes options for Break Association, Part, Solid, Design Steps, and Show Target and Tool Bodies only.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Break Association</div>
      <p class="para_division">Break Association lets you determine whether to keep the association between the original part and the pocket.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Part/Solid</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Part and Solid options let you determine whether to subtract the solid body from the FALSE reference set (part) or the selected solid body itself.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Design Steps</div>
      <p class="para_division">Design Steps includes buttons for the following options:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Target Bodies</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Tool Bodies</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Find Intersecting Components</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">You can select these buttons in different sequences to operate differently.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Show Target and Tool Bodies Only</div>
      <p class="para_division">Show Target and Tool Bodies Only lets you hide all other components in the display.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Procedures</div>
      <div class="title_division">Basic Pocket Cutting</div>
      <p class="para_division">To create pockets in a single plate and a known Standard Part:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the Target Bodies button, then select a target body, for example, a die plate.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the Tool Bodies button, then select a tool body, for example, an insert group.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click Apply to create the pocket.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <div class="title_division">Pocket Cutting with Tool Identification and View Isolation.</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the Target Bodies button, then select a target body, for example, a moldbase plate.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the Find Intersecting Components button. The intersecting components will be highlighted.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the Show Target and Tool Bodies Only check box to hide all other components.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Deselect any components that you do not want to create pockets for with Shift+MB1.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click Apply to create the pocket.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <div class="title_division">Remove Pocket and Remove Part/Pocket</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Remove Pocket and Remove Part/Pocket buttons let you remove pockets of selected tool objects. When you remove an insert group/standard part in the Insert Design module/Standard Part module, its pockets are removed automatically.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Pocket Performance Issues</div>
      <p class="para_division">To minimize the number of features while designing, use Pocket Design at the last stage of die design because:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">After you cut pockets, the number of features in the assembly components dramatically increase, which can slow system performance unnecessarily. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Some updates may fail if a modification positions a component outside of the target body.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">To increase pocketing performance, select the Break Association check box. &nbsp;</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">We strongly suggest that you use View Manager to hide other components except the target and tool bodies before creating a pocket. This makes selecting and checking much easier.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Symbols For Threaded Holes</div>
      <p class="para_division">You can set pocket cutting to automatically create symbols for threaded holes. Set the following option using the <b class="uiTerm">Progressive Die Wizard Customer Defaults</b> option in the <b class="uiTerm">NX Customer Defaults </b>utility. For more information, see <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('pdw/pdw_defaults.html');return(false);">Setting Defaults and Preferences.</a>:
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">MW_Pocket_ThreadMethod</p>
      <p class="para_division">The following options are available:</p>

      <div class="title_division">Standard Part Model for Symbolic Threads</div>
      <p class="para_division">Creating a symbolic thread consists of two activities:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Defining a Standard Part: Create a thread false body with the attribute: <code>MW_HOLE_THREAD</code>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Cutting the pocket: The Pocket program will locate the face with the <code>MW_HOLE_THREAD</code> attribute, and apply the information from the <code>thread_standard_dat.xls</code> file to create the symbolic thread.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">Create the standard part, do the following:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Create a feature with a cylindrical face.</p>
            <p class="para_item">The feature will be used to generate the tap drill hole for thread cutting.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Assign the attribute: <code>MW_HOLE_THREAD=1</code> to the cylindrical face.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Create expressions for the thread diameter, thread pitch, the diameter of the tap drill, and other expressions as necessary. For example:</p>

      <p class="para_division">Add the solid with the thread cutting feature to the FALSE reference set.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Standard Part Database for Symbolic Thread</div>
      <p class="para_division">In the standard part database, there are two parameters, which are used as search conditions for thread data in the thread template database. These are:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><code>SCREW_DIA </code></p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><code>THREAD_PITCH</code>. 
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">These parameters correspond to the expressions in the model for example: </p>
      <p class="para_division"><code>TAP_DRILL_DIA</code> corresponds to the expression in the model. The parameter value. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><code>SCREW_TAP_DRILL_DIA_xxx</code>, means the value can be evaluated from the expression. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><code>SCREW_TAP_DRILL_DIA_xxx</code> in VAR part.  If no VAR part is loaded in the NX session, the value of <code>SCREW_TAP_DRILL_DIA_xxx </code>is read from <code>pdw_var.xls</code> (Windows platform) or <code>pdw_var.xs4 </code>(UNIX platform)
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Thread Template Database</div>
      <p class="para_division">The thread template database in the<code> thread_standard_dat.xls</code> file (<b class="uiTerm">Windows</b> platform) or <code>thread_standard_dat.xs4 </code>(<b class="uiTerm">UNIX</b> platform), is located in <b class="uiTerm">Templates</b> folder in the database installation directory. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">In the thread template database, there are seven parameters.</p>

The data in the corresponding record is read to generate the symbolic thread and update the tap drill feature. 
      </p>
