      <div class="title_division">Interoperability release compatibility</div>
      <p class="para_division">Interoperability capability between I-deas and NX was added incrementally to both systems, so certain versions work together. The information below summarizes the data that can be transferred between various versions.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Keep in mind that this discussion is about interoperability, not migration. Although a similar mechanism is used, only migration transfers the part history. The interoperability transfer refers to the boundary representation only.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Transfer from I-deas to NX</div>
      <p class="para_division">For compatibility from I-deas to NX versions, see Table 1 below. This transfer applies either to using an xpk file or the TDM Browser.</p>

      <p class="para_division">Interoperability transfer from NX to I-deas is by opening NX .prt files in I-deas. For information on compatibility between NX and I-deas versions, see Table 2 below. This transfer includes part boundary geometry and assemblies. This does not include part history.</p>

            <p class="para_item">Display attributes of color, translucency, and Display Mode from the current I-deas assembly are transferred and used when NX Partial Shading Display Mode is used. Visibility (Hidden and Suppression states) from configurations are imported and used to blank and suppress resulting NX assembly components.</p>
         </li>

      <p class="para_division">I-deas can open .prt files from Unigraphics V10.3 or higher, except where noted in the table above. In general, .xpk files from I-deas cannot be opened by earlier versions than shown in the corresponding releases above.</p>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Interoperate</b> menu is found in the I-deas Design and Simulation applications. To transfer a model from another application, switch to the Design application first.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">Interoperability associatively transfers part geometry in both directions. Parts from one system can be used to build assemblies in the other. </p>
      <p class="para_division">The product structure of an assembly hierarchy and orientations of components are transferred using interoperability, not other assembly attributes, annotation constraints, or assembly-level geometry. In order to avoid name conflicts, each time an assembly is imported, it will be placed in a separate bin. Assembly instances will be exchanged even if they have been suppressed.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Drawings and other entities are not supported in this release of interoperability.</p>
      <p class="para_division">The history tree from the master part is used to track surfaces. This history can be browsed in NX with the new Feature Browser, but no provision is yet provided to suppress features or to edit feature parameters. In this release, these changes can be made in the sending system and the part updated using interoperability.</p>
      <p class="para_division">The summary of capabilities is included to give you a clear understanding of what interoperability does and doesn't do to help you make productive use of this tool before taking the step of migrating data to NX.</p>
