      <p class="para_topic">The radio boxes labeled Primary and Secondary at the top of the second half of the dialog allow you to select which background is being edited currently.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">You can select from the following different types of background:</p>

               <p class="para_td">Plain</p>

            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1" valign="top">
               <p class="para_td">Specifying the Plain background type results in a single color background. Clicking the Color button opens a color palette that allows you to specify the color.</p>
            </td>
         </tr>

               <p class="para_td">Clouds</p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1" valign="top">
               <p class="para_td">A background of clouds can add depth to shaded geometry. You can specify colors for both the clouds and the background behind them. You can also enter a numeric value for the Scale of the clouds. The larger the Scale value, the closer the clouds appear to the viewer. The Detail value can be set to Low, Medium, Medium High, High, or Very High. The greater the Detail value, the less diffused or more focused the clouds appear.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The Graduated option allows you to specify two colors for the background, one for the top and one for the bottom. When the image is shaded, the top color blends downward into the bottom color.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Image</p>

            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1" valign="top">
               <p class="para_td">Using this option allows you to specify an image (TIFF, JPEG, PNG or BMP) for the background. You can select the image using the Image button at the bottom of the dialog, and you can also set the Fill Color and Fill Mode options. The Fill Color is only used when the Fill Mode is set to Center, and designates the color of the background outside of the image. The options for Fill Mode are Fill, Tile, or Center.</p>

                     <p class="para_item">The Fill option fills the whole background with the image. Depending on the dimensions of your view and the image, filling the background usually distorts the image.</p>

                     <p class="para_item">The Tile option fills the background with non-overlapping blocks of the image.</p>

                     <p class="para_item">The Center option puts a single block of the image in the center of the background, and fills the rest of the background with the Fill Color.</p>

               <p class="para_td">This option sets up a virtual, six-sided cube, with the model located within it. Called an environment cube, it has six sides, or surfaces, and fully surrounds the model, acting as the model's virtual environment. When configured, the Environment type displays the environment cube as the background for a shaded image of the model. The environment cube is also reflected in any mirrored objects in the scene. The Environment Cube is controlled from the Environment section of the Visual Effects dialog.</p>
               <p class="para_td">The options available for the Environment background type are Intensity and Angle. The Intensity option is controlled by a slider and determines the brightness of the background. The Angle option is also controlled by a slider and determines how much averaging is done when rendering the background. Setting the slider all the way to the left indicates point sampling, resulting in a visually sharp background. Moving the slider to the right will average more pixels together and give a more blurred effect, much like depth of field effects with a camera.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Use this option to reflect the background onto the model. Use of this option is restricted to Studio rendering style; it is ignored by the High Quality Image feature.</p>
