      <p class="para_topic">You can import 2D conceptual design data into a native NX format. The 2D data comes from NX 2D.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">NX 2D is a stand-alone application that allows you to lay out a conceptual design of what you can import into NX to become a 3D model. Before you can import 2D data you must first export geometry from the NX 2D application. NX 2D exports a file with an &ldquo;.nx2d&rdquo; file extension. When you have this exported file, follow these steps:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In NX, create a new part file or open an existing file. The units of your part file should match the units of the exported NX 2D drawing.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Start the Modeling application.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">File&rarr;Import&rarr;NX-2D</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">[Optional] Select <b class="uiTerm">Import as Sketch</b> to automatically generate a sketch from the imported geometry. By default, it is imported as wireframe data.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the <b class="uiTerm">Part</b> box, type the file specification of the &ldquo;.nx2d&rdquo; part or use the <b class="uiTerm">Browse</b> button to locate the file. Click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>.
            </p>
         </li>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Once you complete these steps, the geometry is imported into separate planes. The orientation of the planes reflects the orientation of the views that were defined in NX 2D.</p>
