      </table><br><p class="para_topic">You probably customized your customer default files in previous Unigraphics or NX releases by, for example, changing the default settings of some customer defaults. This procedure tells you how to convert those changes into the latest version of NX.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">Beginning in NX 3, you should never change the customer defaults files directly. Instead, use the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box when you want to modify customer default values.

                  <p class="para_warning_body">Customer defaults changes take affect during your NEXT NX session, not in your current one. If you want to change some customer defaults before you begin or continue working in NX, you should make the desired customer defaults changes, save the changes (by choosing <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> in the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box), and then restart NX.

      <p class="para_topic">There are two utilities you can use when upgrading your customer defaults:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You can <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('cust_defaults/04topic_4.html');return(false);">import your current .def or .dpv files</a> with the <b class="uiTerm">Import Defaults</b> option on the <b class="uiTerm">Manage Current Settings</b> dialog box. A new .dpv file is created with your customizations automatically applied to the matching defaults in the new file.

            <p class="para_item">If you want to also apply customizations to new defaults, you can <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('cust_defaults/04topic_5.html');return(false);">generate a list of defaults that are new to the release</a>. The list includes defaults that had major changes in the release, which you may want to examine. Major changes include changes to the default's internal name, to the NX-supplied default value, to the default's units, or to the default's options.
