      <title>Rectangle/Polygon Method</title>

      <p class="para_topic"> This option selects objects using a defined area. This includes groups and components. The option orients the rectangle or polygon in the current view plane but you can use it in any view. You can use any of the following selection methods:</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">  The default selection method is Inside/Crossing. To change the default rectangle method, use Preferences&rarr;Selection.</p>

      <div class="title_division"> Test Points</div>
      <p class="para_division"> Rectangle selection (except for lines and solids), and polygon selection use test points to determine if an object satisfies the current method. Test points are located at various places on the object depending on the object type.</p>
      <p class="para_division"> The figure below shows an example situation. For the Inside/Crossing method, the circle is not selected because there are no test points inside the selection rectangle. For the Outside method, the circle is selected because all of the test points are outside of the selection rectangle.</p>

      <p class="para_division"> Circle Test Points and Rectangle Selection</p>
      <div class="title_division"> Groups, Components, and Sketches</div>
      <p class="para_division"> Groups, components and sketches are selectable using the Rectangle/Polygon Method if:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> They are enabled in the Type filtering menu.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> For groups and sketches, all visible members of the group must satisfy the rectangle condition. A component can be selected if any of its members satisfies the rectangle selection criteria.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division"> The Rectangle method can only select one level of promotion. If the part has many levels of groups or components, the name display should be turned on.</p>
      <p class="para_division"> Displayed object names, except components and groups cannot be selected using this method.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">  When using rectangle selection methods, you might unintentionally select sketches, groups, and components. If you don't want to select these types, you can disable them in the Type dialog.  </p>
