      <p class="para_topic">This option imports CGM files from the file operating system into your work part. CGM (Computer Graphic Metafile) is an ANSI standard format for picture files. You can move CGMs between different operating systems and many viewing programs and plot despoolers can read them. For information about exporting a CGM file, see the File Export CGM option.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Importing a CGM File</div>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select File&rarr;Import CGM. This displays a dialog containing all files in the current directory with a .CGM extension.</p>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item">Specify the CGM file you want to import.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click OK.</p>
         </li>

      <div class="title_division">Importing CGM Data into Various Applications</div>
      <p class="para_division">In Gateway, Modeling, or the modeling display in Drafting, the system imports CGM data into the work view on the work plane (X-Y plane) of the currently active layout. This allows you to simultaneously display multiple CGM images by importing CGM data into each view of the layout. However, when you import CGM data into the drawing display of Drafting, the system automatically creates a new drawing for that data.</p>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">  NX supports both the export (&quot;generation&quot;) and import (&quot;interpretation&quot;) of CGM Version 1 files. The NX Import function reliably imports CGMs generated by NX, as well as CGMs from many other generators. However, many CGM generators employ CGM elements that the NX CGM interpreter does not support. In these cases, NX may not be able to properly interpret a CGM file, and a &quot;CGM Import&quot; error may occur.</p>
                  <p class="para_warning_body">Because NX exports (or can export) some Version 3 elements, it marks CGM files as version 3.  It makes no difference whether the CGM file actually has Version 3 elements or not.  NX does not keep track of what is output to the CGM file, it just marks all of them as Version 3.</p>

      <p class="para_division">CGM text fonts and width information are affected by the settings in the CGM Defaults File. </p>
