      <p class="para_topic"> A typical NX expression table used in the spreadsheet contains at least two columns (in a column-wise operation), or two rows (in a row-wise configuration). One column is for expression names, and another column (row) for the corresponding formulas or expressions. The formulas are all &quot;living&quot; spreadsheet formulas, which means that NX expressions have been converted to spreadsheet formulas. The formulas are displayed in text format for the convenience of viewing their conceptual contents.</p>

In the Column-wise Data Layout Example figure, C2, C3, and C4 contain the formula &quot;=B2&quot;, &quot;=B3&quot;, &quot;=B4&quot; respectively, and have the display format set to &quot;default&quot;. B2..B4 have the display format set to &quot;text&quot;.</p>

      <p class="para_topic"> The orientation (row/column-wise) of the spreadsheet is not saved with the sheet. When a spreadsheet is loaded, the Modeling Spreadsheet attempts to determine the orientation based on several factors. If the orientation is ambiguous, a message to that effect is displayed in the status line, and you will need to establish the desired orientation using the Options&rarr;NX Preferences function.</p>
