      <p class="para_topic">In I-deas, you can directly modify any part within an assembly.</p>
      <p class="para_topic"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/commandref/nx_rule.gif" border="0"></p>
      <p class="para_topic">In NX, to work on a specific part within the displayed assembly, you first make that component the &ldquo;work part.&rdquo; </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The NX concept of a separate display part and work part is an important difference from I-deas.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The &ldquo;display part&rdquo; is the .prt file being displayed. This can be a part or an assembly.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">To make a component the &ldquo;work part,&rdquo; double click the component either in the <b class="uiTerm">Assembly Navigator</b> or in the graphics window.

      <p class="para_topic">When a component is the work part:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The <b class="uiTerm">Part Navigator</b> now displays information for this part.
            </p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">This part can be edited in the context of the assembly</p>
         </li>
      </ul>

                  <p class="para_tip_body">A component can be make the work part even before it contains any geometry, allowing you to completely design a part within an assembly context.</p>
