      <p class="para_topic"> Select New to create a layout containing up to nine views in one of six pattern layouts. Settings in the New Layout dialog box allow you to control the setup of pattern layouts.</p>

      <div class="title_division"> Name</div>
      <p class="para_division"> The system generates a default layout name, Lay( <em>n</em>), where  <em>n</em> is an integer starting with 1, and is incremented by 1 with each new layout that you create using the default name. You may enter a new name or accept the default. A layout name may contain up to 30 characters.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division"> Arrangement</div>
      <p class="para_division"> The default arrangement is a single TOP view. The Arrangement option menu allows you to select a different arrangement.</p>

      <p class="para_division"> Choose the desired arrangement by clicking the first mouse button on the pattern in the Arrangement option menu. The system determines the appropriate number of view buttons to display and the New Layout dialog box is updated. For example, if a nine-view arrangement is chosen, nine buttons are displayed.</p>
      <div class="title_division"> Layout View Selection</div>
      <p class="para_division"> On selecting a layout arrangement, the system displays the default views. You can accept the defaults, or change the arrangement in any of the views using the following procedure:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> Click on the view button that represents the view you want to change (the figure below shows a four-view button arrangement).</p>

            <p class="para_item"> From the list box displayed above the view buttons, select the layout you want for that view.</p>

      <p class="para_division"> The system updates the view position. Repeat the process to change the other views.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">  If the view regeneration process becomes too time consuming, you can abort it by pressing &lt;Ctrl&gt;&lt;Shift&gt;L on UNIX, or the Stop button of the Work in Progress dialog on Windows.</p>

      <div class="title_division"> Creation Errors</div>
      <p class="para_division"> If the name you enter is invalid or if it already exists, an error message displays asking you to enter a new name.</p>
