      <p class="para_topic">There is nothing special to do to transfer NX NX models to I-deas using interoperability. Any NX .prt file containing a part or an assembly can be opened in I-deas, including files from previous NX releases. If the .prt file contains an assembly, you must make sure that the .prt files for any component subassemblies or parts are also available to be opened in I-deas. </p>

            <p class="para_item">You should first perform normal diagnostic checks on your part before sending it to I-deas. Visually inspect the model by rotating it in shaded and wireframe displays to make sure it is modeled correctly. Inspect the layers to understand the organization of the part file.</p>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item">If your part contains construction geometry (sheets or bodies) that you do not want to transfer to I-deas, make sure that you know which layer(s) contain the solid body of interest to the I-deas user. Communicate the layer information to the I-deas user, because he/she won't have the same tools available to inspect the layers before opening the NX part.</p>

            <p class="para_item">If the .prt file contains an assembly which uses specific part reference sets, make sure that each part in the assembly uses the same reference set name. When the assembly is opened in I-deas, one common reference set name may be used. You will need to inform the I-deas user about your naming conventions for reference sets.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body"> When transferring an assembly, constraints and assembly-level geometry are not exchanged. </p>

      <p class="para_topic">If you modify the NX model after transferring it to I-deas, save the part file again, and send it to the I-deas user to update the I-deas model. To keep different versions, such as when using a family of parts, use a different .prt file name.</p>
