      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Rendering Style</b> option controls the appearance of surface objects displayed in the view, including solid, sheet, and faceted bodies. The option determines whether surface objects are represented on the display by facet geometry (meshes of filled triangles), edge geometry (lines and curves), or a combination of both. 
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">For Shaded, Wireframe, and Studio rendering style, surface objects are represented by facet geometry.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">For Static Wireframe rendering style, surface objects are represented by edge geometry. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">For Face Analysis and Partially Shaded rendering styles, geometry representation varies by object (e.g. component, body, or face). You can use <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Object Display</b> to choose which objects are represented by facet geometry and which objects are represented by edge geometry. In the <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Object Display</b> dialog, if you set the Partially Shaded or Face Analysis attributes of selected objects to Yes, these objects are represented by facet geometry. If the attributes are set to No, the objects are represented by edge geometry. 
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_topic">The appearance of facet geometry is controlled by facet-related options, including options presented on the General sub-page of the Visual preferences page (e.g. Hidden Edge Style) and on the Faceting preferences page. The appearance of edge geometry is controlled by edge-related options, including options presented on the Edge Display sub-page of the Visual preferences page. </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The NX saves the Rendering Style setting of each view in the part file. When you create a new part, NX initializes the Rendering Style setting of each new view according to a customer default. </p>
      <p class="para_topic">You can set the Rendering Style option to one of the following settings:</p>

      <p class="para_division">Shaded: In Shaded rendering style, surface objects are represented by facet geometry, meshes of filled triangles. The facets (triangles) are rendered with smooth shading and lighting. </p>

      <p class="para_division">Wireframe: In Wireframe rendering style, surface objects are represented by facet geometry, but only surface edges and silhouettes are apparent. This setting differs from Static Wireframe rendering style in that the system dynamically updates hidden edges and silhouettes as you rotate the view. </p>

      <p class="para_division">This rendering style requires extra memory and computation, so it may be unsuitable for use with large assemblies. </p><a name="static_wireframe"></a><div class="title_division">Static Wireframe</div>
      <p class="para_division">Static Wireframe: In Static Wireframe rendering style, surface objects are represented by edge geometry (lines and curves) which indicate edges, silhouettes, and surface grid lines. This setting differs from Wireframe rendering style in that hidden edges and silhouettes become incorrect when you rotate the view, so you must invoke Update Display to correct the display. </p>

      <p class="para_division">For Static Wireframe rendering style, you can use the Edge Display sub-page of the Visual preferences page to specify whether hidden edges and silhouettes are to be displayed, and also to specify the display characteristics of smooth edges, edges whose adjacent faces have the same surface tangent along the edge. </p><a name="studio"></a><div class="title_division">Studio</div>
      <p class="para_division">In Studio, objects are realistically rendered according to material and texture characteristics assigned to them via View&rarr;Visualization&rarr;Materials/Textures. Objects with no assigned material or texture characteristics appear shaded as in Shaded rendering style.</p>

      <p class="para_division">NX provides vastly improved realism in Studio rendering style using real-time programmable shading languages. This display mode is referred to as Advanced Studio Display mode. </p>
      <p class="para_division">Studio rendering style is available only with a separately licensed NX application called Studio for Design. Studio rendering style supports image-based (TIFF, JPG, PNG), Graduated, Cloud, and Mixed backgrounds.  </p>
      <p class="para_division">NX dynamically generates Graduated and Cloud backgrounds to match exactly with High Quality Image. Use the Reflection Rendering checkbox to specify whether you want to reflect the background onto the model. Note that in Advanced Studio Display mode, Reflection Rendering is always enabled to provide a more realistic display and also a better match with the static high quality images. As you drag the color editing sliders for backgrounds, NX dynamically updates the display. </p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">Note the following support information:  </p>

                        <p class="para_note_body">Studio display does not support all textures and texture types supported by static high quality image rendering. The Basic Studio display only supports the Wrapped Image type textures and has simulated support for Cast, Rough, Dimple, Knurl and Tread displacement textures. The Advanced Studio Display mode supports most of the solid shaders, such as Chrome, Marble, and Woods, using real-time programmable shaders. The table below lists shaders that are currently not supported in the Advanced Studio display mode.  </p>

                        <p class="para_note_body">Both the Basic and Advanced Studio Display modes do not support the material refraction characteristics. For the features that are supported, only High Quality Image through Lightworks are marked with a photo camera or labeled HQI Only. </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_note_body">The basic shadow option, Environment or Shadow Catcher Only, is not provided in the Advanced Studio display mode. </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_note_body">Advanced Studio Display mode supports lighting effects from up to six lights, of which at most three can be Distant, Scene, or Spot type lights. </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_note_body">The shading tolerance for Studio rendering style is set through the Preferences &rarr; Visualization &rarr; Shading &rarr; Advanced Visualization option. In general the results are fine facet details and better display quality, but the result is slower performance. </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_note_body">Transition into and out of Studio rendering style no longer requires a complete regeneration. The only time regeneration occurs is when you first switch into a new rendering style. Thereafter, the system retains the facets generated for the new rendering style. This allows you to quickly transition back to a rendering style. </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_note_body">Transition between Basic and Advanced Studio Display mode by selecting the checkbox in the following location: Visualize Shape toolbar &ndash;&gt; Advanced Studio Display or Preference &ndash;&gt; Visualization &ndash;&gt; Visual Page &ndash;&gt; Advanced Studio Display. </p>
                     </li>
                     <li>
                        <p class="para_note_body">Current the Basic Studio Display implementation prevents simultaneous display of TIFF texture and background reflection on a face.   </p>
                     </li>
                  </ul>

      <p class="para_division">This means if you assign steel material (which is reflective), and cast it to a face, and then enable the background TIFF image, the resulting image wraps a reflective background of the Tiff image on the face, not cast a TIFF texture on the face. </p>
      <p class="para_division"> If displaying the TIFF texture images are more important than the reflection, follow these tips: </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Use a material that is not reflective (e.g., plastic) when assigning Materials/Textures.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Edit the material assigned to the face, change its mirror factor to &quot;0&quot;, a non-reflective factor. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select Material/Textures and the material used, select Edit&rarr;General.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Slide the Mirror factor all the way to the left.  </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">This limitation is removed in the Advanced Studio display mode.</p><a name="face_analysis"></a><div class="title_division">Face Analysis</div>
      <p class="para_division">In Face Analysis rendering style, selected surface objects are represented by facet geometry rendered to indicate surface analysis data. Remaining surface objects are represented by edge geometry. Use <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Object Display</b> to enable analysis display for objects of interest, setting the Face Analysis attribute to Yes. 
      </p>

      <p class="para_division">Surface analysis data can be indicated in various ways, such as by color-coded plots or reflections. Use <b class="uiTerm">Analysis</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Shape</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Face</b> to control the display of analysis data. 
      </p><a name="partial_shade"></a><div class="title_division">Partially Shaded</div>
      <p class="para_division">In Partially Shaded rendering style, selected surface objects are represented by facet geometry rendered with smooth shading and lighting. Remaining surface objects are represented by edge geometry. Use Edit &rarr; Object Display to enable shaded display for objects of interest, setting the Partially Shaded attribute to Yes. </p>
