      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Each displayable NX object has a color attribute that you can set to a color index between 1 and 216. When you plot object geometry, the system applies a color to the geometry according to the object color index. Annotation image objects represent an exception to this rule. Annotation images are plotted in their original image colors, and the object color index is ignored.  A background color also is recorded in the CGM file.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Set the colors that determine the colors recorded in the CGM file. Navigate as follows:  File -&rarr; Plot dialog -&rarr; General Settings tab -&rarr; Colors option menu. </p>

               <p class="para_td">Printed output uses the same colors as onscreen display. With this setting, if drawing monochrome display is currently enabled, then the monochrome foreground and background colors are recorded in the CGM file, and the foreground color is applied to all geometry, regardless of the object color index. Otherwise, if an override color palette is currently enabled, then the colors of this palette are recorded in the CGM file. If neither drawing monochrome display nor an override color palette is enabled, then the colors of the part color table are recorded in the file.</p>

               <p class="para_td">An alternate palette of colors is recorded in the CGM file. Any number of custom palettes can be defined and saved in color definition files (CDFs). Use the Custom Colors dialog to edit the colors of a custom palette or to open or save a CDF.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Printed output uses the colors produced by legacy plotting functionality supported by releases before NX3. A white background is recorded in the CGM file, and the following fifteen colors are applied to geometry. </p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">For the Legacy Colors setting, the color recorded in the CGM file for white is actually black. This means that black is applied to geometry that is assigned white in the part color table.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">You can set customer defaults (File -&rarr; Utilities -&rarr; Customer Defaults) to specify the default setting of the Colors option menu, and also to specify a CDF that represents the default Custom Palette.</p>
