      <p class="para_topic">In I-deas, a &ldquo;part&rdquo; is a geometric model of a product. It may contain multiple volumes defined by surfaces, edges, and vertices. Assemblies and drawings are separate items from part models.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">In NX, the word &ldquo;part&rdquo; usually refers to a .prt file. This file merges assembly hierarchy, part geometry, and drawings in one file. This section will describe the part model geometry stored in the .prt file. This information is structured differently than in I-deas.</p>
