      </table><br><p class="para_topic">You should use the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box to make changes to customer defaults, instead of modifying the customer defaults files themselves.

                  <p class="para_note_body">Changes to customer defaults (on the tabbed pages) take effect during your next NX session, but changes to some of the options at the top of the dialog box are applied during your current session.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">When you choose <b class="uiTerm">File</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Utilities</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b>, the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box appears.

               <p class="para_td">Defines what default level you are currently working with: <b class="uiTerm">Site</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Group</b>, <b class="uiTerm">User</b>, or <b class="uiTerm">Shipped</b>.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">Any of these levels may be read-only. The <b class="uiTerm">Shipped</b> level is always read-only.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">The <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('cust_defaults/defs_overview.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Site</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Group</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">User</b> levels</a> appear when they are defined with environment variables. If you define any of these levels, the <b class="uiTerm">Shipped</b> level does not appear.

                           <p class="para_note_body">If you do not have write access at the current level, you receive a warning when you attempt to make a change that the changes will not be applied. Although the tabbed pages may appear to make the changes if you persist, notice that the <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> buttons are unavailable so you cannot save the changes.

               <p class="para_td">Controls the default lock state of all lock toggles. If you change the default lock state, all individual lock changes you have made at the current level are lost, and all lock buttons become either pushed down or popped up (as appropriate).</p>

               <p class="para_td">The top levels of the customer default collections. Many of the items in this list can be found in the <b class="uiTerm">Application</b> menu on the NX main menu. Other items contain a collection of defaults that belong to other functions (e.g., the Product &amp; Manufacturing Information application in the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box contains the Product and Manufacturing Informations customer defaults).
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">When you click on an application, it expands to show its categories. The other applications are collapsed.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Each customer default has one or more values that you can change (if the default is unlocked and you have write access at the current level).</p>
               <p class="para_td">Values can appear in many forms, such as toggles, sliders, option menus, radio buttons, text fields, or color boxes. In cases where you specify a directory or a URL, the default may include a <b class="uiTerm">Browse</b> button. See the <em>Introduction to NX Help</em> for more information about how to use each of these forms.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">Some values have specific ranges. If you enter a value that is outside of this range, you receive a warning message. You can determine what the range is by pressing F1 for context sensitive help. (In some cases where the valid range is not intuitive, the range is also included in the tooltip.)</p>

                           <p class="para_warning_body">By design, the UNIX portion of the Home Page URL default (<b class="uiTerm">Gateway</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">User Interface</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Resource Bar</b>) does not work, because the graphics window's browser tab only exists on Windows platforms. You can key in or paste a Home Page URL in the text field on Windows platforms, but the <b class="uiTerm">Browse</b> button does not work.

                           <p class="para_warning_body">The Home Page URL also exists on Windows platforms as a preference at <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">User Interface</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Home Page URL</b>.Because this preference is written to the registry, any Home Page URL that you enter in the preference takes precedence over any Home Page URL that you enter in the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box.

               <p class="para_td">If this icon appears, the default has a comment associated with it at your level or at the level from which the value is inherited. </p>
               <p class="para_td">You can view the comment by looking at the tooltip on this icon.</p>
               <p class="para_td">You can also see the first line of the comment in the <b class="uiTerm">Manage Current Settings</b> dialog box and the <b class="uiTerm">Find Default</b> dialog box (after you search using an appropriate search string, such as the default's name).
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">You can edit the comment (if you have write privileges for it) by choosing the <b class="uiTerm">Edit Comment</b> option in the <b class="uiTerm">Manage Current Settings</b> dialog box.
               </p>
