      <div class="title_topic3" id="xps10_pagetitle">Face Analysis and Shaded Views</div>

      <p class="para_topic"> These two sets of radio buttons allow you to display selected faces with highlighted edges only instead of highlighting the entire face. This can be useful when you want to view shading and analysis information on faces. By highlighting only the edges, you can clearly view the analysis information.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The Face Analysis Views option affects views with Face Analysis rendering style, and the Shaded Views option affects views with Shaded, Studio, or Partially Shaded rendering styles. </p>
      <p class="para_topic"> You can toggle back and forth between the two methods of identifying selected objects: face highlighting (default) and edge highlighting. To switch between both methods, you can use two icons on the Selection toolbar. You can also select between methods from the Selection Preferences dialog.</p>
      <p class="para_topic"> The following diagram shows a part that benefits from edge highlighting, as the reflection mapped face analysis information is still visible.</p>

      <p class="para_division"> During the session, to change the settings:</p>
      <div class="title_division"> Using the Selection Toolbar</div>

            <p class="para_item"> Select the <img align="bottom" src="graphics/anlys_vw_edge_icon.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">Analysis Views Edge Highlight</b> icon or the <img align="bottom" src="graphics/shad_vw_edg_hilt_icon.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">Shaded Views Edge Highlight</b> icon on the Selection toolbar.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">   Note: By default, these icons are hidden. To show them, select Tools &rarr; Customize. Select the Commands property page. Select the Selection toolbar. Scroll down and select the 'Analysis Views Edge Highlight' icon and/or the 'Shaded Views Edge Highlight' icon.</p>

      <p class="para_division"> For 'Face Analysis Views':</p>

            <p class="para_item"> Select Highlight Faces or Highlight Edges under 'Face Analysis Views' on the Selection Preferences dialog (Preferences&rarr;Selection).</p>

            <p class="para_item"> Select Highlight Faces or Highlight Edges under 'Shaded Views' on the Selection Preferences dialog (Preferences&rarr;Selection).</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division"> Determining the Attribute Setting</div>
      <p class="para_division"> These are session attributes, so they apply to views in all parts in the session. The attribute setting is determined as follows:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If you previously used the Selection Preferences dialog box to modify the attribute, then that setting is used. Note that the setting is saved, for each user, from session to session. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> If you have never modified the attribute, then the setting is initialized to the value specified by an environment variable, if it is set. The variable can be set to TRUE or FALSE.  </p>
            <ul>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">For Face Analysis Views the variable is UGII_ANALYSIS_EDGE_HIGHLIGHT.</p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">For Shaded Views the variable is UGII_SHADED_EDGE_HIGHLIGHT. </p>

            <p class="para_item"> If the environment variable is unset, then on UNIX workstations only, the setting is initialized to the value specified by a resource in the ugraf*** resource file, if it is set. The resource can be set to TRUE or FALSE.</p>

                  <p class="para_item">For Face Analysis Views the resource is ugraf***.analysisEdgeHighlight.</p>
               </li>
               <li>
