      <p class="para_topic">In I-deas, <b class="uiTerm">Hide</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Show</b> commands are used to control the visibility of specific entities. The <b class="uiTerm">Display Filter</b> is used to control visibility by entity type. Layers are used in I-deas Drafting to control visibility of groups of entities.

      <p class="para_topic"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/commandref/nx_rule.gif" border="0"></p><a name="ndxgenid_roadmap122"></a><p class="para_topic">In NX, use <b class="uiTerm">Hide</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Show</b> commands with individual objects. Use the <b class="uiTerm">Show and Hide</b> command to make specific types of objects invisible, similar to using the I-deas <b class="uiTerm">Display Filter</b> command. You can also use layers in NX to control visibility of arbitrary groups of any geometry.

      <p class="para_division">Hide and show individual objects with the <b class="uiTerm">Hide</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Show</b> commands found on the <b class="uiTerm">Utility</b> toolbar or the <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b> menu.

      <p class="para_division">Find commands to control layers in the <b class="uiTerm">Format</b> menu or add the buttons to the <b class="uiTerm">Utility</b> toolbar.
      </p><a name="ndxgenid_roadmap123"></a><p class="para_division">Use the <b class="uiTerm">Layers Settings</b> command to display the full <b class="uiTerm">Layers Settings</b> dialog box to make specific layers visible.

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">One layer at a time is the &quot;work&quot; layer. New objects are created on this layer. Define the <b class="uiTerm">Work Layer</b> before creating objects.
            </p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Other layers can be made invisible. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Layers can also be visible and selectable, or visible only (not selectable).</p>
         </li>

                  <p class="para_tip_body">Assign names to layer categories in the <b class="uiTerm">Layer Settings</b> dialog box for easy identification and selection. Select the category name to select all layers in the category. Multiple layers can be selected in each category, and layers can be included in more than one category.
