      <p class="para_topic">This option provides vastly improved realism for <b class="uiTerm">Studio Rendering Style</b>. <b class="uiTerm">Advanced Studio Display</b> is supported only on Windows, and only on devices that support programmable shading. As a High-End Visualization user, you can benefit from the following: 
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Use of real-time programmable shaders to support more realistic display effects for materials, textures, lighting, shadows, and reflections.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Better matching between <b class="uiTerm">Studio Rendering Style</b> and photo-realistic rendering (static high quality image generation).  
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>

      <div class="title_figure">Advanced Studio Rendering Real Time Generation</div>
      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm"> Advanced Studio Display</b> is available only on workstations configured with graphics devices that support  the real-time graphics programming languages. It is not sensitive on workstations that do not support this feature, including the following:
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Unix configurations</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Linux configurations</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Windows configurations that do not support the Cg real-time graphics programming language</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Those without UGS licensing for Studio Rendering Display.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_topic">Use Advanced Studio Display if the following conditions apply:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You have a graphics device that supports Cg real-time programmable shading language. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You require a more realistic, dynamic display such as for design reviews, or demonstrations. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">You require a closer-matching preview when generating photorealistic images.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>

                  <p class="para_note_body">Do not use <b class="uiTerm">Advanced Studio Display</b> if you are not willing to experience a substantially slower real-time display performance. The slower performance is due to the additional graphics calculations that are pixel-based rather than vertex-based, and can be anywhere from 30% to 70% slower depending on the graphics device you have chosen.

      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Advanced Studio Display</b> can be disabled by the <b class="uiTerm">Disable Advanced Studio Support</b> option on <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Visualization Performance</b> &rarr; <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('customizing_nx/prf_vpp_gen_t.html');return(false);">General Settings</a>. When <b class="uiTerm">Advanced Studio Display</b> is disabled, Studio views always use <b class="uiTerm">Basic Studio Display</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">You can access<b class="uiTerm"> Advanced Studio Display</b> in either of the following locations:
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Visualize Shape</b> toolbar &rarr; <img align="bottom" src="graphics/adv_studio.gif" border="0"> <b class="uiTerm">Advanced Studio Display</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Visualization</b> &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Visual</b> tab &rarr; <b class="uiTerm">Studio</b>&rarr; Select the check box for <b class="uiTerm">Advanced Studio Display</b> under <b class="uiTerm">Session Settings</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Determining the Attribute Setting</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Advanced Studio Display</b> is a session attribute, so it applies to views in all parts in the session. The attribute setting is determined as follows:  
      </p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> If you previously used the <b class="uiTerm">Visualization Preferences</b> dialog to modify the attribute, then that setting is used. Note that NX saves the setting for each user from session to session. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If you have never modified the attribute, then NX initializes the setting to the value specified by the UGII_ADVANCED_STUDIO_DISPLAY environment variable, if it is set. You can set the variable to TRUE or FALSE.  </p>
