Before using the -y, -g, and -c switches, it is recommended that you understand how assemblies and components are affected when loaded and saved. This information can be found in the Assemblies Help.

Use caution when using -o with -y and the -o switch (save part under a new file specification) is used with the -y switch (convert assemblies). The parent assembly is saved under a new file specification and the original parent assembly remains unchanged. However, all original components and sub-assemblies contained within the parent assembly are overwritten and refiled as the current part version.

Using -d with -y is not recommended. When the -d switch (convert an entire directory) is used with the -y switch (convert assemblies), refile_part may convert component parts several times; once as a piece part, and one or more times as a component. The -d switch instructs refile_part to convert all parts found within a directory, which accounts for the piece part conversion. In addition, the -y switch instructs refile_part to recursively convert an assembly. This means a component part will get converted via recursion each time a higher level assembly or sub-assembly within the component's assembly structure is converted as a piece part.
