As in I-deas, assembly constraints are not required. Also, constraints do not need to constrain all six degrees of freedom.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">Depending on your installation, you will either see an <b class="uiTerm">Assembly Constraints</b> or a <b class="uiTerm">Mate Component</b> command. Mating conditions are directional; assembly constraints are not. Using <b class="uiTerm">Mate Component</b>, the first component is positioned relative to the second component in the mating condition.

      <p class="para_division">Mating types include <b class="uiTerm">Mate</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Align</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Angle</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Parallel</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Perpendicular</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Center</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Distance</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Tangent</b>.

                  <p class="para_note_body"><b class="uiTerm">Mate</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Align</b> differ in the direction of the outward normal of the mating faces. Instead of using the <b class="uiTerm">Flip Face</b> option as in I-deas, select the appropriate mating condition.

      <p class="para_division">After selecting a mating type, you will be prompted to pick the faces or datums on the two components.</p>

      </p>

         <li class="condense"><b class="uiTerm">1 to 1</b> &mdash; Center one cylindrical face in another.
         </li>
         <li class="condense"><b class="uiTerm">1 to 2</b> &mdash; Center one face or datum plane between two others.
         </li>
         <li class="condense"><b class="uiTerm">2 to 1</b> &mdash; Center two faces or datum planes around one other.
         </li>
         <li class="condense"><b class="uiTerm">2 to 2</b> &mdash; Center two faces or datum planes between two others.
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">The top section of the <b class="uiTerm">Mating Conditions</b> dialog box lists all the constraints.

            <p class="para_item">In the <b class="uiTerm">Geometry to Constrain</b> group, select any specific <b class="uiTerm">Orientation</b> options for the constraint type and select the geometry to be constrained.
            </p>
         </li>
