               <p class="para_td">Is one object representing individual objects saved in another file called the pattern master part file. You create a pattern by retrieving the pattern data from the pattern master part file. Pattern data for a particular part must exist before that part can be retrieved as a pattern.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Creating a Pattern</div>
      <p class="para_division">To save pattern data, first set the Save Pattern Data option under File&rarr;Options&rarr;Save Options to save patterns in the way you want. If it is set to 'No', no pattern data will be saved.</p>

            <p class="para_item">Save a part that contains the objects that you want to use as a pattern. This creates a 'Pattern Master Part File'.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Open the part file into which you want to retrieve a pattern.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Retrieve the 'Pattern Master Part File' saved in Step 1.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">The saved pattern data represents the geometry which was displayed in the work view at the time the file is saved. If the work view was a drawing sheet, only geometry directly on the drawing (excluding the geometry in the views of the drawing sheet) is saved in the pattern data.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">When you save a 'Pattern Master Part File', the size of the file will increase. However, by using the 'Pattern Master Part File' to create pattern objects, you will be saving file space. </p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">When you save a part with the Save Pattern Data option enabled, the pattern geometry that is saved is the geometry visible in the work view at the time the part is saved.  For example, if you zoom up so that only part of the work view is visible when you save the part, the saved pattern data excludes geometry that is not visible. </p>

      <div class="title_division">Editing Patterns</div>
      <p class="para_division">A pattern object graphically represents all of the individual objects in a pattern master part file. You can, of course, make changes to a pattern master part file, but you cannot edit a pattern object because it is a single object.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Any changes made to the pattern master part file become apparent when you use that file to retrieve, or update a pattern object.</p>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">When you change a pattern master part file, every part containing pattern objects is affected, which may cause unneeded alterations to your part file.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Pattern Geometry</div>
      <p class="para_division">Pattern objects may represent points, lines, arcs, conics, splines, b-curves, sheets, solids, dimensions, and drafting objects. Pattern objects may also be shaded. You can create pattern points in the pattern master part file, to be used as control points for pattern objects, for dimensioning, creating geometry, etc. in other part files.</p>
      <div class="title_division">View Mods. For Retrieved Data</div>
      <p class="para_division">View modified objects in a pattern master part file are handled as view dependent objects in pattern objects. When a pattern is retrieved, view dependent objects and view modifications appear within the pattern object in the work view at the time of retrieval, but will not appear within the pattern representation in other views. It is possible for the same view dependent objects and view modifications to appear in two different views. For example, a particular pattern could be retrieved with the work view set to Top and then again with the work view set to Right. Thus, the view modifications from the original part would appear in both the top and right views.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">Pattern objects can appear slightly smaller than you expect after a Fit operation, because it includes pattern objects containing view dependent objects or view modified objects (which are treated as view dependent within a pattern object) even though they do not appear in every view.</p>

      <p class="para_division">If a pattern's origin marker is turned off, and the pattern object contains pattern points, or if Name display is turned on, or both, then the origin marker will not be included in a Fit operation.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Therefore, if the pattern's origin marker is turned off, and the pattern does not contain pattern points, and Name display is turned off, then the origin marker will still be included in a Fit operation.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Note that the Fit operation only checks for the existence of pattern points within a pattern object, and not the visibility of the pattern points.</p>
