      <p class="para_topic">In I-deas, there are 2D and 3D curves. 2D curves are created on a sketch plane and can contain constraints.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">NX also has the equivalent two types of curves. Curves created as part of a sketch may be constrained, similar to I-deas 2D curves. Curves created outside of a sketch compare to I-deas 3D curves.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The commands for creating curves that are not part of a sketch are found in the <b class="uiTerm">Curve</b> toolbar.

      <p class="para_topic">This toolbar is comparable to the 3D curves in I-deas which are not part of a constrained sketch. These are NOT the tools you should normally use. These tools will not be emphasized in this road map. The normal 2D sketches are created using the <b class="uiTerm">Sketch</b> command.

      <p class="para_topic">Although the mechanics of creating sketches and constraints are not the same, the concepts of constraints on 2D sketches map quite closely from I-deas to NX.</p>
