            <p class="para_item"> The WAIT keyword accepts TRUE, OK or YES, which turns on a &quot;waiting for the program to complete&quot; mode. If WAIT is turned, off the command runs as a background task and nothing is expected to be returned from the command. ($DATA will be blank)</p>

      <p class="para_division"> This runs a shell, using the &quot;ls&quot; command as a parameter. The reason to use a shell is so that it can expand the *.html file specification before invoking the ls command. Note the escape of the redirect character (\&gt;) to pipe the output to a file. The FILE=&quot;/tmp/xxx&quot; then reads the output of the ls command and puts that in $DATA.</p>
