      <p class="para_topic">Many NX parameters are  <em>modal</em>; that is, they stay in effect until they are explicitly changed. There are three levels of modality: system, part and work session.

               <p class="para_td">System modal parameters are basic default information in the customer defaults file. This information is set up by the system manager when NX is installed, and includes information like number of decimal places, default fillet radius, etc. These values apply until you change them for a particular part or during a work session. Of course, they can be altered when the customer defaults file is updated.</p>
               <p class="para_td">Certain <em>attributes</em> are also system-modal such as sheet body grid, color, font and width.

               <p class="para_td">Part Modality</p>

               <p class="para_td">Part modal parameters, which apply only to that particular part, are values that are saved when a part is filed. For example, this includes character size, line width, any view dependent modifications, or any user-defined attributes. These values are in effect the next time the part is retrieved. </p>

               <p class="para_td">Work Session Modality</p>

               <p class="para_td">Work session modal parameters are values that remain in effect only during a particular work session (from <em>logon</em> to <em>logoff</em>). These defaults are not filed with the part.
               </p>
