      <p class="para_topic">This option allows you to record the length of time it takes for specified NX events to complete when recording or playing back a macro. The option toggles between Start Timer and Stop Timer.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">On selecting this option during macro recording, the Record Timer dialog displays, prompting you to enter a Record Label to identify the timing sequence.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">You can enter a label of up to 40 characters in length. On selecting OK, the dialog is dismissed and the timing sequence begins. A timer start statement is displayed in three places:</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the standard output device (on UNIX only, the screen from which you started NX)</p>
            <p class="para_item">TIMER START &quot;label&quot;</p>
            <p class="para_item">Where label represents the text string or name that you entered on the Record Timer dialog</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The timer start statement is also written to the syslog file in the following format:</p>
            <p class="para_item">&amp;MACRO TIMER START &quot;label&quot;</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The timer start statement is also written to the macro file in the following format:</p>
            <p class="para_item">TIMER START &quot;label&quot;</p>
            <p class="para_item">Once you complete the NX operation you are timing, select Tools&rarr;Macro&rarr;Stop Timer. The timing sequence then halts, and the total cpu time in seconds, as well as the total elapsed time, displays in three places:</p>

                  <p class="para_item">On the standard output device (the screen or window from which you started NX)</p>
                  <p class="para_item">TIMER STOP &quot;label&quot; - total cpu: 0.03 elapsed: 0.18</p>

               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">The timer stop statement is also written to the syslog file in the following format:</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the macro file, you will see the following keyword showing the termination of the timing sequence:</p>

      <p class="para_topic">On playing back a macro with embedded timer statements, elapsed times are reported to the standard output device and to the syslog file.</p>
