      <p class="para_topic">If the NX part or Parasolid file associated with a part history node is modified and a new version of the file overwrites the previous file, you will see notification that the feature is out-of-date on the History access form. You can update the feature to the latest version. If a new version of the NX part or Parasolid file is provided with a new name or in a new location, you will not be given any automatic notification, but you can reconnect the history tree node to the new file and update the part.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">The history tree of a part containing a node associated with an imported NX part or Parasolid file will automatically show notification that the node needs to be updated if the associated file changes. The node will be colored yellow and the characters &quot;&gt;&gt;&gt;&quot; will be shown in front of the node name. These characters are used because they look like the I-deas  <em>Update</em> icon.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">To update the out-of-date interoperability feature:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose the  <em>History Access</em> icon.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the interoperability feature (UG_FileName or XT_Filename).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the  <em>Modify</em> icon.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select  <em>Feature Parameters</em>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click  <em>Update to Latest Version</em>. This option will only be available when there is a new version of the associated file (saved with the same name and location).
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the  <em>Update</em> icon. This will reprocess the rest of the history tree, incorporating any later features you have added.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_topic">If a new file is available, but with a different name or in a different location, use the  <em>Reconnect File</em> option:
      </p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose the  <em>History Access</em> icon.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the interoperability feature (UG_FileName or XT_Filename).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the  <em>Modify</em> icon. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select  <em>Feature Parameters</em>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click  <em>Reconnect File</em>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select a new NX part or Parasolid XT file.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Re-select the layers to open. (You should normally select the same layer(s) as originally used.) </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the  <em>Update</em> icon. This will reprocess the rest of the history tree, incorporating any later features you have added. 
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_topic">Out-of-date NX-based parts will also appear with a &quot;U&quot; in their Status column on the Manage Bins form. You can update the feature to the latest version using the Update from NX icon on the form. </p>

                  <p class="para_tip_body">An example use of this capability of reconnecting to a different file is to access a &quot;family of parts&quot; stored in different files.  </p>

      <p class="para_topic">If for some reason you want to break the associativity of the interoperability node, use the option  <em>Break Associativity</em>. I-deas will no longer check for newer versions of the associated file. You will still be able to reconnect this feature to another NX file.
