      <p class="para_topic">This discussion describes creating and managing I-deas assemblies in Teamcenter.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Assemblies in Teamcenter are slightly different than with TDM. The term &ldquo;precise&rdquo; means that an assembly contains specific revisions of components, somewhat like the term Reference Specific (RFS) in I-deas TDM. The standard default behavior of I-deas assemblies in Teamcenter is that each assembly level refers to specific item revisions. This behavior is defined by the Bill of Materials Version Rule (BVR) in Teamcenter.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">In Teamcenter, there are some new icons to indicate assembly datasets. </p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="graphics/nxmanager/assembly_view_dataset.gif" border="0"> This folder expands for you to select parts or subassemblies within an assembly.
            </p>
         </li>

                  <p class="para_tip_body">As you transition from I-deas to NX, we recommended that when you begin new product designs, create the assemblies in NX, even if the assembly uses some parts still being maintained in I-deas.</p>

                  <p class="para_tip_body">The default behavior for I-deas assemblies in Teamcenter has been defined to avoid the situation where a referenced assembly is modified by updating a part it contains to a later version. In this case, the offending assembly must be checked out to update it before a higher level assembly can be checked back in. </p>
