                  <p class="para_note_body"> The example below outlines the general method to use an NX part in I-deas. I-deas Simulation may be directly accessed from NX if both NX and I-deas are running on the same computer and properly configured. Step A and B below can be automated using the menu Application &rarr; &amp;MasterFEM;. The current part from NX will be transferred to I-deas Simulation. </p>

                  <p class="para_item"> <em>File &rarr; Save</em> (or  <em>Save As</em>).

            <p class="para_item">In I-deas, open the NX part file:</p>
            <ol type="a" start="1">
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item"> <em>File &rarr; Unigraphics Open</em>.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Select the type of file:  <em>Unigraphics Part</em>.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Use the folder button to select the (*.prt) file to open. </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Select the layer(s) containing the NX geometry to transfer into I-deas.</p>

                  <p class="para_item">In I-deas, you can add features to this part, create a finite element model, etc.</p>

            <p class="para_item">In NX, modify the part and save the changes in the same part file or in a new file:</p>

                  <p class="para_item"> <em>File &rarr; Save</em> (or  <em>Save As</em>).

            <p class="para_item">In I-deas, update the part. </p>
         </li>
      </ol>

            <p class="para_item">If you have a finite element model associated to the part, delete any results data sets. To keep previous analysis results for reference, make a copy of the part and the finite element model. Delete the results data sets in the copy, and update the copied part using the steps below.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose the  <em>History Access</em> icon.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the interoperability feature (UG_FileName).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the  <em>Modify</em> icon.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> <em>Feature Parameters</em>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"> <em>Update to Latest Version</em> or  <em>Reconnect File</em></p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the  <em>Update</em> icon. 
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">This will reprocess the rest of the history tree, incorporating any later features you have added.</p>
