The Middle Value and Range Scale Factor scroll bars let you control the range of analysis data values that are mapped to the colors used in the display. Initially, the range is equal to the range of data values at points on the surface.

Move the center of the range up or down by dragging the Middle Value scroll bar. You can change the size of the range by dragging the Scale Factor scroll bar to the right or left of its original position.

The logarithmic scale of the scroll bar provides the ability to scale the range up or down through four orders of magnitude, while usually providing reasonable resolution. As an example, you can move the Scale Factor scroll bar so that each color represents a successively smaller range of curvature values. This has the effect of showing more detail in the smaller range of curvature values (and no detail outside of the range). Any curvature values above or below the currently selected range are displayed using the highest or lowest color, respectively.

Minimum Data Range and Maximum Data Range fields redefine the data range in units of radius. This is intended for those situations when the data range is so large that the Middle Value slider becomes hard to use. You can enter values in these two fields to narrow the data range, making the Middle Value slider useful. Once you enter values in these two fields and click Apply, the display is updated based on the new data range. The full range of colors is mapped to the new, narrowed data range. To restore the data range to the full value, click the Reset Data Range button.
