      <p class="para_topic">The Save Pattern Data options allow you to save pattern data while saving a part:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">No will save no pattern data or shaded data when saving a part</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Pattern Data Only will save pattern data each time you save a part</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Pattern and Shaded Data will save pattern data and shaded data each time you save a part</p>
         </li>

                  <p class="para_note_body">  This option defaults to the current part condition (e.g., if the current part contains pattern data, the switch defaults to Pattern Data Only).</p>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">  When using the Pattern Data Only and Pattern and Shaded Data options, the system displays a warning to let you know that pattern data for assemblies will only be saved when the work part and the displayed part are the same.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">When Pattern Data is saved with your part file, the Format&rarr;Pattern option can be used to display the work view of your part in other parts. A part file containing pattern data is then referred to as a master part.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">  If a master part is retrieved and refiled with Save Pattern Data set to No, any patterns created from the master part will result in pattern errors since the system will then be unable to locate the Pattern Data required to display these patterns.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">If you intend to use your part as a master part, and assume that patterns will be created from it. Take care to be sure that it is located in the Pattern Directory, the UTIL directory, or your home directory (e.g., the directory from which NX was started).</p>
      <p class="para_topic">When you intend to use a part as a master part, especially if it is going to be a standard part, such as a bolt or a drawing border, it should be placed in the Pattern Directory or the UTIL directory, and it should be protected from unauthorized access or deletion.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">When a master is changed, those changes automatically appear in any pattern created from it when the part containing the pattern is retrieved or plotted. When a master is deleted, the pattern created from it automatically disappears when the part containing the pattern is retrieved or plotted.</p>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">  Do not attempt to save pattern or shaded data with the File&rarr;Save or Save All options. Only the pattern or shaded data for the displayed part will be saved. To save pattern or shaded data for multiple parts, use Window&rarr;More Parts or select a part from the Window pulldown menu, then select File&rarr;Save or Save As for each pattern master part file individually.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Pattern and Shaded Data</div>
      <p class="para_division">Pattern and Shaded Data allows you to save both: Save Shaded Data in addition to Pattern Data when you use the Save options to save a part file. When the part is filed with this option, shaded data is filed to a separate file. This file will be located in the same directory as the current part file and will be named partname.fac.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Pattern objects are displayed with hardware shading (on capable devices when enabled) if shaded data was filed with the pattern master part. </p>
