      </table><br><p class="para_topic"> Once the preview is setup select the Start Shade button to begin the process of image generation. Save, Plot and Erase Shade are options that may be used at this time. The status line will give feedback messages on the current image generation process. The three most important messages are:</p>

               <p class="para_td"> Indicates shadows are being calculated. If the Setup option for Generate Shadows is not on then this step will be very quick.</p>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic"> You can abort the image generation process at any time by pressing&lt;Ctrl&gt;&lt;Shift&gt;L. The abort will not take effect until scan line data starts to display on the screen.</p>
      <p class="para_topic"> After the image is generated the main shading dialog changes, the Save and Plot buttons become active. In multiple viewport layouts you can have multiple shaded images concurrently displayed on the screen. To shade in a different viewport, use the Setup function and point at a view using the cursor. Press OK to return to the main shading dialog and select Start Shade.</p>
