Raytracing occurs when you set the Method option to Ray Traced, or whenever you have reflecting objects or glass objects in the scene (mirrors, metals, glass, etc.). For large, highly complex parts with high polygon counts you may need to increase this value in order to preserve rendering performance.

Increasing the memory allocated to raytracing increases the limit for subdividing the rendered scene into regions. The software automatically attempts to adjust this value, but in some cases it may be necessary for you to make a manual change. The larger the model, the more space High Quality Image will allow for subdivision. You can set the value as high as 128Mb.
