      <p class="para_topic">NX saves user-specific settings and other information in a file called the system registry. This allows you to maintain these settings between NX sessions. You should not change registry entries directly. Instead, they are saved when you make changes via NX dialogs such as the Preference dialog.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">On Windows systems, NX uses and conforms to the utilization of the Windows Registry.</p>

                  <p class="para_warning_body">Making a mistake in editing the registry can cause your system to become unstable and/or unusable. Whenever possible, use NX to make configuration changes rather than directly editing the registry. This is to ensure that values are stored properly in the registry when changing the configuration.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">On UNIX platforms, a file located in the user's home directory will contain all NX registry information. The file name will contain the NX release as noted.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Pre NX2 Releases</div>
      <p class="para_division">ugv&lt;release number&gt;.reg</p>
      <p class="para_division">For example, the UNIX registry file for NX is named ugv190.reg and is located in the user's home directory, provided that the file can be created in this directory. Otherwise, no registry settings will be stored. </p>
      <div class="title_division">NX2 and Higher Releases</div>
      <p class="para_division">ugnx&lt;release number&gt;.reg</p>
      <p class="para_division">For example, the registry file for NX2 is named ugnx2.reg.</p>
