      <p class="para_topic">When you first start NX, you will start in the Gateway application. Tips will be shown in the graphics window. </p>

      <p class="para_topic">Two buttons, <b class="uiTerm">New</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Open</b>, are available to create or open a .prt file.

      <p class="para_topic">Most likely, these two buttons are near the top left of the window, but like other Windows applications, you can move toolbars wherever you want. This is different than the standard interface in I-deas, where buttons are always in the same location.</p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">The Gateway application is most comparable to the I-deas <b class="uiTerm">Start</b> form, since you use it to open files and select applications. You can also view and analyze parts, but you can not edit them.

      <p class="para_topic">In the Gateway application, you can:</p>
      <ul>
         <li class="condense">Open files</li>
         <li class="condense">Select applications </li>
         <li class="condense">View the contents of files</li>
         <li class="condense">Use simple analysis tools, like measuring distance</li>
      </ul>

                  <p class="para_note_body">You must open a .prt file before switching to another application. If the part was last saved in an application, that application will automatically start when you open the file. If you close all .prt files, you will be placed back in the Gateway application.</p>
