      </table><br><p class="para_topic">PAX files define the tabs and templates that appear in the <b class="uiTerm">File New</b> dialog box. Each tab has its own .pax file. Tabs are used to logically group templates. The templates on each tab are defined in the .pax file for that tab. You, or your system administrator, can customize the tabs and templates.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The File New customer defaults are located at <b class="uiTerm">File</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Utilities</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Gateway</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">General</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">File New</b>. You must restart NX in order to apply customer defaults changes.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">If you want to create a part file using pre-NX 5 methods, open a blank template. Blank templates are available when you select the <b class="uiTerm">Show Blank Templates</b> customer default.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">File New</b> dialog box supports the master model process when the <b class="uiTerm">Master Model Support</b> customer default is selected. If your selected template requires a reference master part, you can define the master part in the <b class="uiTerm">Part to Reference</b> box in the <b class="uiTerm">File New</b> dialog box. (The name of the <b class="uiTerm">Part to Reference</b> box may vary, depending on the selected template.)
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Names for new parts</div>
      <p class="para_division">NX assigns a temporary name to each new part, based on your File New customer defaults.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Use the <b class="uiTerm">Naming Parts with Automatically Assigned Names</b> customer default to specify whether you want to always provide a new name, always accept the assigned name, or always choose whether to provide a new name or accept the assigned name.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Native NX, Automatic Names for New Parts</b> customer defaults provide the automatic names for your new parts in native NX. For non-master parts, the automatic name attaches the name provided by <b class="uiTerm">Native NX, Automatic Names for New Parts</b> to the master name, as specified by the <b class="uiTerm">Automatic Names for Non-master Parts</b> customer defaults.

                  <p class="para_note_body">If you intend to use sheet templates, all templates that are likely to be used to create parts that will have sheets added to them should have their layers used for drawing borders set to selectable or visible. For example, If your drawing sheet template has border objects on layer 256, and you add a sheet to a part that does not have this layer selectable, the border objects are created on an invisible layer.</p>
