      <p class="para_topic">A non-manifold part has edges shared by more than two faces, or has a face with free edges not shared by any other surfaces. This type of topology is sometimes used in I-deas to create multiple regions for finite element modeling, or to create inner partitions to represent thread inner diameters.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">In NX, .prt files can contain multiple sheet and solid bodies, but each solid body will have manifold topology. If a solid body is split as shown below, the resulting .prt file will contain two solid bodies and the sheet body.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">This is slightly different that the partition operation in I-deas where the result will be a non-manifold solid with one surface in the center of the solid. In NX, where the two solid bodies touch, there will be two surfaces. Users should be aware of this if they try to use this geometry in I-deas for finite element meshing</p>
