      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Point</b> dialog box provides a standard way to specify points and create point objects, as well as determine locations in 3D space.
      </p>

                  <p class="para_td">Specifies the point creation method. Select from the list or click the buttons representing the most common methods.</p>

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/inferred_point.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">Inferred Point</b> &mdash; Specifies the point option to use based on your selection. The system specifies the point with a single selection, so the inferred options are limited to cursor location (valid only if cursor location is also a valid point method), existing point, end point, control point, and arc/ellipse center.

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/cursor_location.gif" border="0"><a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('shared_func/com_pt_cursor_loc_op.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Cursor Location</b></a> &mdash; Specifies a position at the location of the cursor. The location lies in the plane of the WCS. You can use a grid to quickly and precisely locate points (see <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Work Plane</b>).

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/existing_point.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">Existing Point</b> &mdash; Specifies a position by selecting an existing point object. Use this option to create a point on top of an existing point or specify a location by selecting an existing point. Creating a point on top of an existing point may cause some confusion since you will not see the new point, but this can be a quick method of placing a copy of a point onto the work layer from another layer.

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/end_point.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">End Point</b> &mdash; Specifies a position at the end points of existing lines, arcs, conics, and other curves.

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/control_point.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">Control Point</b> &mdash; Specifies a position at the control points of geometric objects.

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/intersection_point.gif" border="0"><a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('shared_func/com_pt_intersection_pt_op.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Intersection Point</b></a> &mdash; Specifies a position at the intersection of two curves or at the intersection of a curve and a surface or plane.

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/arc_ellipse_sphere_center.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">Arc/Ellipse/Sphere Center</b> &mdash; Specifies a position at the center of an arc, ellipse, circular or elliptical edge, or sphere.

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/arc_ellipse_sphere_center.gif" border="0"><a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('shared_func/com_pt_angle_arc_ellipse_op.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Angle on Arc/Ellipse</b></a> &mdash; Specifies a position at an angular position along an arc or an ellipse. The software references the angle from the positive XC-axis and measures it counterclockwise in the WCS. You can also define a point on the unconstructed portion, or extension, of an arc.

                        <p class="para_item"><img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/gateway/point_constructor/quadrant_point.gif" border="0"><b class="uiTerm">Quadrant Point</b> &mdash; Specifies a position at the quarter points of an arc or an ellipse. You can also define a point on the unconstructed portion, or extension, of an arc.

The <b class="uiTerm">Part Navigator</b> displays an associative point as <b class="uiTerm">Point</b> and a non-associative point as <b class="uiTerm">Fixed Point</b>.
