      <p class="para_topic">The Class Selection tool provides a detailed method for selecting objects.  It also provides a method for constructing a filter that allows you to control the selection process before executing a function. You can specify which objects are selectable by specifying type, color, layer or other parameters in the Filter Methods section.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">When you select objects using Class Selection Tool, the system displays descriptive information on the status line for each selection. The information may include the type and names of selected objects and always shows the total number of selected objects.  </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The Selection List dialog shows a list of the currently selected objects. Objects may be chosen and de-selected in NX with the delete icon. The top right hand corner close button closes the dialog.</p>

With the Type dialog you can make changes to the selection while it is visible.  It is filtered according to the current settings including any changes just made.  Hit the reset button to remove the filters. This resets to the application-specified default type filter. The Type selection filter offers an advanced selection option with the ability to select multiple types at once and do filtering on object types and curve types. </p>

                        <p class="para_td">Selects objects by layer. You can specify a single layer, a range of layers, or an existing category. The system pre-selects layers in the filter by layer. The system displays only layers that have a selectable status.  With the Layer dialog you can make changes to the selection while it is visible.  It is filtered according to the current settings including any changes just made.  To remove the filters, click Reset. The information button provides a listing of all layers with object counts.  The Layer selection filter offers an advanced selection option with the ability to select from multiple currently selectable layers at once. </p>
