      <p class="para_topic">You can enter numerical values in any of the following forms:</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">A constant (e.g., 2.3453 or 6)</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">A variable (an expression name such as &quot;length&quot;)</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">A mathematical statement (e.g., (3*6)/(5^2) )</p>
         </li>
      </ul>

               <p class="para_td">Entering a constant is the most direct method for entering a numerical value; simply type in the number. All numbers in NX are stored as double precision real numbers; so, 6 and 6.0000000 have the same value.</p>
               <p class="para_td">You may also enter one of the built-in constants available in the system. Please see the Expressions topic in the Modeling Help for a description of available built-in constants.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Using Expressions</p>

            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1" valign="top">
               <p class="para_td">Expressions are valuable tools for storing numerical values. For detailed information on expressions, please see the Modeling Help. You may enter the name of any existing expression in a real number text field that requires a number.</p>
               <p class="para_td">When you enter an expression name in place of a numerical value, a link is maintained between that value and the expression. If the expression changes then the value automatically updates. Please note the following exception to this rule.</p>

                           <p class="para_note_body"> When expressions are used to define point objects and point locations, no link is maintained to the original expression. When you enter an expression name as a value in the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.popUpPage('shared_func/index.html?goto=shared_func/com_ptcon_d.html&vars=-aux,-home','linkInter','menubar=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes,location=no,directories=no');return(false);">Point Constructor</a>, the name is converted into the numerical value of that expression. For example, if you enter the expression name length1 to define the x coordinate of the end of a line and then increase the value of length1, the line will not change.

               <p class="para_td">Mathematical Statements</p>

               <p class="para_td">Mathematical statements may be entered into any real number text field requiring a numerical value. NX provides a set of operators and built-in functions for your use in building mathematical statements.</p>
               <p class="para_td">A mathematical statement is a text string containing any combination of constants, variables, built-in functions, and operators that can be evaluated. Some examples are:</p>
               <ul>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">1/2</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">3*cos(25)/2</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">pi()*radius^2</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">1 + 2</p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
