               <p class="para_td"> Controls the line font. The Hardware option uses the system graphics library to generate the seven standard line fonts. Selecting hardware line fonts can improve drawing performance and reduce memory consumption. The Software option generates non-solid curves with the values you enter in the Dash, Space, and Symbol size fields on this dialog. It also uses user-defined line font information, if there is any. For plotting, set the Space, Dash, and Symbol sizes to the values you want because the system uses them in the plot, even if you enable the Hardware option.</p>

A symbol is an arbitrary graphic constructed from lines and text that is stored in a symbol font file via File&rarr;Utilities&rarr;Symbol Fonts. You can specify that a symbol is to be used as a portion of the dash pattern of a software line font via File&rarr;Utilities&rarr;Line Fonts.</p>

               <p class="para_td"> While Show Widths is on, the object width attribute determines the displayed width of lines or curves used to represent an object. When Show Widths is off, all curves are drawn thin, regardless of object width settings.</p>
