To add unnassociative standalone geometry views to NX drawings, a few different methods are available.

The first method is to simply draw geometry on the sheet. This method can be used to create drawing title blocks. This is similar to I-deas, where title block geometry would be placed in the Main view. Although it isn't shown as a view in the Part Navigator, the sheet acts something like the Main view in I-deas.

A second method is to create the drawing in a .prt file containing only sketches or curves. Using this method, views can be independently moved to position them on the drawing. To define which sketch shows up in each view, use Format → Visible in View.

A third method is to create views of multiple .prt files containing only sketches or curves. This method allows the geometry in each view to be managed separately.

To create a view of a separate .prt file, use the command Insert → View → Add View from Part.

The Expand command is similar to making a view the active work view and zooming in on it in I-deas Drafting. Use this command to draw curves in a view that are associated with the view so that the curves move with the view.
