      </table><br><p class="para_topic">To create a new file, choose <b class="uiTerm">File</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">New</b>, select a template, and, optionally, provide additional details such as the new file name and location (in native NX) and attributes and item details (in Teamcenter Integration). Your new file uses the template as a seed part.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">File New</b> dialog box has tabs to logically organize the templates. Each tab (for example, Model) is defined by a .pax file. A .pax file defines which templates appear on that tab and other details, such as the tab name and template names that appear in the <b class="uiTerm">File New</b> dialog box, the application started by a selected template, etc.

                  <p class="para_note_body">Each tab can contain templates from more than one application. For example, the ugs_model_templates.pax file, which is a standard template file provided with the software, contains Assemblies, sheet metal, and other templates as well as modeling templates.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">Each template refers to a .prt, .fem, or .sim file, which defines details for the template such as color settings, layer categories, and drawing borders. Templates can go into more than one tab.</p>
      <p class="para_topic"><a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('shared_func/fil_new_templates_ootb_rt.html');return(false);">Standard templates</a> are provided with the software. However, you or your system administrator can create customized templates based on the requirements at your site. You can also customize the tabs that appear in the <b class="uiTerm">File New</b> dialog box.       <p class="para_topic">When you create a new part file with a template, any of the following may happen, depending on the definitions in your template's .pax file:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The new part inherits the settings of the template.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The new part file has copies of any objects in the template part.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">NX starts the appropriate application for you.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">An appropriate dialog box opens. For example, if you create an assembly part, the <b class="uiTerm">Add Component</b> dialog box may appear after you create the part.

         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_topic">If you are using Teamcenter Integration, you must <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.popUpPage('nxmanager/index.html?goto=nxmanager/templates_install.html&vars=-aux,-home','linkInter','menubar=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes,location=no,directories=no');return(false);">install the templates into the Teamcenter database</a> in order to make them available in the Teamcenter Integration version of the <b class="uiTerm">File New</b> dialog box.       </p>
      <div class="title_division">Where do I find it?</div>
      <p class="para_division">To create a new part file, do one of the following:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">On the <b class="uiTerm">Standard</b> toolbar, click <b class="uiTerm">New</b> <img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/toolbars/gateway/standard/new.gif" border="0">.

         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">File</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">New</b>.
