      </table><br><p class="para_topic">NX has many advanced capabilities. However, while learning NX, you may want to use a limited set of tools. Tailor the user interface by hiding tools you are unlikely to use to carry out your specific day to day tasks. </p>

               <p class="para_td">The default (recommended) <b class="uiTerm">Essentials</b>  role presents large easy-to-see icons with the icon name underneath. This is the recommended role to use when you first start using NX or if you use NX infrequently. If you need more menus, use the <b class="uiTerm">Essentials with full menus</b> role.

               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Advanced</b> roles in the System Defaults folder provide a more complete set of tools. 
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">As you become more experienced, you can use the customization tools to organize menus and toolbars to suit your needs, and then save your settings as your personal role.  </p>
               <p class="para_td">If you used an earlier version of NX, your previous layout is listed in the <b class="uiTerm">Last Release</b> folder in the <b class="uiTerm">Roles</b> palette. Click on the <b class="uiTerm">user.mtx</b> Role to reinstate you previous layout. NX does not transfer the User Role (.mtx) files you created in a &ldquo;roles&rdquo; subdirectory in previous releases. However, you can manually copy those .mtx files to a similar &ldquo;roles&rdquo; subdirectory for the new NX release. 
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">For example, the default path for your roles directory in NX 4 would have been:  C:\Documents and Settings\&lt;username&gt;\Local Settings\Application Data\Unigraphics Solutions\NX4\roles. If you used the default path, move your files to: C:\Documents and Settings\&lt;username&gt;\Local Settings\Application Data\Unigraphics Solutions\NX5\roles</p>
