      </table><br><p class="para_topic">To change defaults in the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box:
      </p>

            <p class="para_item">Open the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box by choosing <b class="uiTerm">File</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Utilities</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b>.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Check <b class="uiTerm">Defaults Level</b> (at the top of the dialog box) to make sure you are on the level that you want. <b class="uiTerm">Defaults Level</b> also tells you if you are on a read-only level.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">If the <b class="uiTerm">Defaults Level</b> is <b class="uiTerm">Shipped</b>, your <b class="uiTerm">Site</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Group</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">User</b> levels have not been defined yet. You should <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('cust_defaults/defs_overview.html');return(false);">set the environment variables to define the defaults levels</a> that you need.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Make sure that <b class="uiTerm">Part Units</b> is set to the correct units for the part files that you want to use.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In the list on the left side of the dialog box, select an application.</p>
            <p class="para_item">The selected application expands to show its categories.</p>
            <p class="para_item">If you do not know where the customer default that you want is located, you can <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('cust_defaults/defs_dialog_find_procedure.html');return(false);">search</a> for it by clicking <b class="uiTerm">Find Default</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/defs_find.gif" border="0">.

            <p class="para_item">Select a category in the list on the left side of the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">The right side of the dialog box changes to show the tabs in the selected category.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the tab to open the page where the default is located.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Change the value of the default if you wish.</p>

                        <p class="para_note_body">If the current defaults level is read-only, you receive a warning message that you will not be able to save your changes. This message appears only for your first attempted change in the dialog box.</p>

            <p class="para_item">Values can appear in many forms, such as toggles, sliders, option menus, radio buttons, text fields, or color boxes. See the <em>Introduction to NX Help</em> for more details.

                        <p class="para_note_body">For the Home Page URL customer default (in the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box at <b class="uiTerm">Gateway</b> application&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">User Interface</b> category&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Resource Bar</b> tab), you can key in or paste a URL in the Windows field, but the <b class="uiTerm">Browse</b> button does not work. By design, neither the field nor the <b class="uiTerm">Browse</b> button of the UNIX portion work, because the graphics window's browser tab only exists on Windows platforms. 
                        </p>

            <p class="para_item">Some values have specific ranges. If you enter a value that is outside of this range, you receive a warning message. You can determine what the range is by pressing F1 for context sensitive help. (In some cases where the valid range is not intuitive, the range is also included in the tooltip.)</p>

            <p class="para_item">If you want to see which defaults have been modified from the defaults level's original file, you can click <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('cust_defaults/defs_dialog_current_set.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Manage Current Settings</b></a> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/defs_current_settings.gif" border="0">.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">When you have finished making all the customer default changes that you want, choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> to save the changes. (If you are on a read-only defaults level, these options are grayed out.)

                        <p class="para_warning_body">The customer defaults changes that you made are applied during your NEXT NX session, not during your current one. You should close and reopen NX if you want to apply the changes immediately.</p>
