      <p class="para_topic">Your answers to the questions below will help guide you through this road map. Since every company&rsquo;s design processes are a little different, it will be important to define your own goals as you make this transition. </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Depending on your goals, you will not need to learn everything described in this road map.</p>

                  <p class="para_item">If you use a more top down product design process, NX offers several new capabilities described in the Assemblies section to follow. For example, the file structure in NX makes it easy to change a part model into a subassembly.</p>

         <li>How large a team do you work with?

               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">The larger the team you work with, the more important it will be to define company standard conventions, which will be different in NX.</p>
                  <p class="para_item">As the team gets larger, the more a data management system likeTeamcenter will become important to manage and track data files. With a small work group, you could work with NX in native mode, where you directly manipulate files in system folders.</p>

         <li>How complex are your assemblies?
            <ul class="unmarkedList">
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">As assemblies grow more complex, you will want to take advantage of new ways in NX to simplify assembly display. For example, the same part model can contain simplified representations to be displayed in complex assemblies using a concept of &ldquo;<a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('roadmap/07qt_assemblies_8.html');return(false);">reference sets</a>&rdquo; to define the geometry that should be &ldquo;loaded&rdquo; into a specific assembly.

         </li>
         <li>Who &ldquo;owns&rdquo; the assemblies and drawings where your part models are used?
            <ul class="unmarkedList">
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">NX provides new capabilities to create interpart relations. Variables can easily pass from assembly to parts. Some companies do not allow the use of this capability, to minimize the potential of a part changing when not expected. </p>
                  <p class="para_item">If you own the assembly as well as the parts in it, NX provides some new ways to design in an assembly context. For example, you can create geometry in the assembly file as you design it and then move it to a separate file later.</p>
                  <p class="para_item">Drawings can be created in the same file as the part or assembly model in NX. However, you may want to use the concept of the part file being the &ldquo;<a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('roadmap/03topic_7.html');return(false);">master model</a>&rdquo; and keep the drawing in a separate file.

         <li>What do you do? (Are you a producer or consumer of the data?)

                  <p class="para_item">If your function is to analyze or manufacture a model given to you, associativity may not be as important to you as it is to the designer, who makes many iterative changes.</p>
                  <p class="para_item">NX provides some new capability for creating <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('roadmap/07qt_assemblies_29.html');return(false);">derived parts</a> that are linked to another file.

         <li>What types of changes do you anticipate in your designs?

                  <p class="para_item">In NX, you can use expressions with conditional logic. You can also <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('roadmap/05qt_parts_37.html');return(false);">suppress and unsuppress features</a> based on these equations.
