The Update Expressions toggle provides Parametric Animation of objects or components of a part. This feature integrates High Quality Image animation with the expression subsystem, and allows you to create simple movement within animation.

As an example, by using Parametric Animation you could create spinning blades for a desktop fan by creating an expression for the orientation of the fan blades based off the frame number. This would provide another level of realism for generated MPEG or GIF89a movies.

When Parametric Animation is enabled, the expression "FrameNumber" is updated in the expression subsystem with the current frame number of the animation sequence. This value can then be used in other parametric expressions to control size, position or alignment of components or objects in the model.

Two steps are necessary to enable Parametric Animations. First, you must create an expression named "FrameNumber" in the displayed part. This variable will be updated by High Quality Image animation with the current frame count. Second, you must activate Parametric Animation by toggling ON the Update Expressions button.
