      <p class="para_topic">In I-deas, a &ldquo;swept feature&rdquo; refers to the specific features <b class="uiTerm">Sweep</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Variational Sweep</b>.

      <p class="para_topic">In NX, a &ldquo;swept feature&rdquo; refers to several different kinds of features where a cross section is swept to create the feature. These include <b class="uiTerm">Extrude</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Revolve</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Tube</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Sweep along Guide</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Swept</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Variational Sweep</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Sweep along Guide</b> feature is similar to the I-deas <b class="uiTerm">Sweep</b>. The term &ldquo;guide string&rdquo; is the same as a rail in I-deas.

      <p class="para_topic">Select one section and one guide string. The guide string may have sharp breaks. </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The section must be located at the end point of one of the guide string curves. Create a datum plane at this point on which to sketch the section.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The NX <b class="uiTerm">Swept</b> feature uses one or more cross sections and up to three guide strings (rails).

      <p class="para_topic">With one guide string, the result is similar to the I-deas <b class="uiTerm">Sweep</b> command. The second guide string provides orientation and scaling to the swept section. A third guide string can be used to skew the swept section along the path.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Variational Sweep</b> sweeps a constrained sketch section along a path. The swept sketch will change shape along the path as controlled by constraints.

      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Variational Sweep</b> requires a sketch created using the <b class="uiTerm">On Path</b> option. In the sketch, use the command <b class="uiTerm">Intersect Curve</b> to create intersecting curves to use as guide strings. If these guide strings have multiple segments, use the Selection Intent option <b class="uiTerm">Tangent Curves</b>. Make sure your sketch is constrained to the vertex created by the <b class="uiTerm">Intersect Curve</b> command.
      </p>
